I had to join this tribe when I discovered it because:
My x-husband recently informed me that according to some ancient celestial/galactic calander that I'm a Blue Monkey, which we thought was cool because I'm a Fire Monkey in the Chinese calander. I worked with a healer years ago who said that my power was in play, that was my gift to share with the world...and I do have a heightened sense of delight and playfulness. Although difficult sometimes when the world gets way too heavy, gray and darkly cloying. Then I do something goofy and feel much better, as do those around me! I love movement, laughter, beauty, moments of magic...among many other things.
Just wanted to say HI! Enjoy All!

Re: Greetings!
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 2:13 PMI should chime in here because I'm new to this Tribe as well. I'm a Blue Planetary Monkey. I was wondering how do y'all feel about your glyph matching your personality? When I was first introduced to the concept, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. I mean, my destiny is to play and produce magic and illusion? I absolutely love a good time (also a Gemini), but I'd always thought I was way heavier than that. I've since eased into the idea of just monkeying around, but was wondering what people think about the significance of the birth date (sans year)? For example, mine is Crystal 5 and I definitely resonate with what the Crystal Moon stands for. Are there other aspects of this calendrical system and where y'all stand that is meaningful on a personal level? Just curious, not even sure how active this tribe is. Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

Tue, November 15, 2005 - 5:09 PM~~I've no idea what sort of Blue Monkey I am...how did you find that out? Could be one helluva bus ride with all monkeys on board. I used to be much more serious, too, then discovered the power of play. You can let go of crap with an honest romp as much as with meditation, and laughter fills the body with oxygen while tears of joy wash the spirit.
Enjoy!

I personally found the descriptions much more accurate than western astrology for my birthdate, although in all fairness most of them only look at your sun instead of all your planets. -

Re: Greetings!
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 10:25 PMThe paradox of the blue Monkey is the illusion of self versus the reality of self.
I've found that quite helpful. Especially when curbing sarcasm from my nature. Other Monkeys laugh and understand, while other kin see the shadow side of it. Playing always helps me see the reality of myself. -

Re: Greetings!
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 9:30 AM~~Yes, that understanding. Real Play is not restrained, bounded, inhibited or orderly. It is not corraled by rules of society, religion, collective reality or even personal beliefe. It can be raw and intense in its honesty, at times. In a split second it can take you from spinning in the brightest light to staring into a hidden, dark pit inside yourself. It is always a polished mirror and therein lies its power: only what you bring with you and can stand to look at. Then what to do? The choice is always yours...Just don't start whining or someone (probably me) may slap you upside the head and yell "Tag, you're it!" -

Sun, November 20, 2005 - 6:58 AM~~Yeah, we called it 'skulking'. We have two teams and run like wild things most of the night during the summer. Capture the Flag, Capture a person, Tag, Ninja, etc.
Must never stop playing!!!! -

Re: Team Hide & Go Seek
Mon, November 21, 2005 - 1:50 AM[disclaimer] the discovery of our new adventure, 'the game', was accidental.
Our original intent was innocent, or so it seemed:
I guess, out of boredom, we decided to collect stray golf balls at our country club's course (NO, we weren't trespassing!), and sell them to the driving range. EZ $$$, and a lot more fun than mowing lawns...
...then someone pointed out this huge brickyard, past the woods from the fairway. We never knew was there. From the highway, it was just a building and a fence. In the process of exploring this hidden realm,
(OK, we were trespassing!) that we came up with 'the game'.
There were plenty of nooks & crannies, and countless rows of stacked brick and concrete block. They were only a few feet apart, and 8 or 10 feet high. This transformed the game into 'multi-level'. When detected, the fleeing guy would jump across the gaps, run across the stacks, then drop down & vanish... cool.
Eventually we learned the layout of the place, and knew where to look. Then there was a time that one guy could not be found...
AHAAH!!!
he had moved some blocks, creating a hideout WITHIN the stacks!
Now we've gone '3-D'!!!
We knew the daily routine: the workers left at 5pm, and no one worked on the weekends. Without the others knowing, we'd sneak over to the yard on our own, to secretly work on making hideouts and tunnels. 'the game' turned into an obsession, and dominated our thoughts and daydreams.
[the 'preoccupation with sex' hadn't taken hold of our minds & bodies... yet!]
We did this all summer, so you could imagine the extent of our 'rearranging'...
Some younger kids found out about 'the game'.
They played...
UNFORTUNATELY,
they weren't aware of the workers' schedule, and got caught!
(the cops were called, they went to juvy court, and their parents had to pay for the THOUSANDS of dollars of 'damage & vandalism)
Oops!!!
We didn't mean for that to happen. We didn't set them up or narc them out.
'the game' was a whirlwind of excitement that 'just happened'.
We just got caught up in the thrill... It was fuckin' awesome!
...and we got away with it!
(the advent of paintball was years to come... if we had only known...)
I digress. (er, confess!)
hehe!
[grins] + [blushes of shame]

Re: Team Hide & Go Seek
Mon, November 21, 2005 - 11:49 PMI played something like that in a town called whitmore, just east of redding. This town has only about 60 people and other than a general store it had not but an elementary school. The school had no one around for at least a 1/4 to 1/2 a mile and not a cop around town for miles and miles. We never vandalized or even moved anything so there was nothing wrong any way.
I guess it was kick the can, only more like grab the bottle. The school was surrounded by woods which we could go 15 feet into for boudaries and in the middle was a gravel filled playground. The bottle was in a giant tire filled with gravel. The cool part about that was that if any one was running for the bottle you couls hear the footsteps in the gravel from anywhere.
Whe hid around the buildings, on the buildings, in the trees, under tables, and even in the very tire itself. Well only one guy was small enough to get in there, but he did it once! We would play a few times a week for hours and hours. I miss those days. -

Re: Team Hide & Go Seek
Tue, November 22, 2005 - 7:44 AM~~We had one game called Rabbit in a Hole or Rabbit and Hounds, where the designated 'rabbit' had to hide and often rehide from the 'hounds'--everyone else. I liked the game a lot because I was fast and liked shadows, so if I was spotted I'd take off running, turn a quick corner and squirel down into a shadow, shape myself against something...just blend in and vanish. Okay, next time we're all together I'm certainly up for a game or two!! :)
